Certified Humane Education Specialist
Online Courses
As an integral part of our mission, Humane Society University’s School of Continuing Education works to ensure that the next generation will have the opportunity to develop and foster humane attitudes and behavior. To do that, we have teamed with experts around the country to offer training for current and future educators to instill these values and models in young people and those who teach. The program is designed to help classroom teachers, school administrators, youth outreach professionals, shelter directors, humane education specialists, and humane law enforcement officers enhance their credentials and effectively use their limited time and resources to build humane education programs in their communities.
The courses are online, self-paced and instructor-led. Usually each course is completed in about four weeks. The courses center on activities, readings, and a wealth of practical tips and field-tested strategies for working with children, teens, school faculty and youth leaders.
Those who successfully complete the prerequisite, four of the courses in the Humane Education area, and who pass an exam, will be issued a Certified Humane Education Specialist (CHES) Certificate by Humane Society University.
For more information about the CHES certificate or individual Humane Education courses, please contact Stephanie Itle-Clark at sclark@humanesocietyuniversity.org.
