Do you object to animal dissection, and worry about what you will do in an upcoming class? Help is here! Thanks to student know-how, a willingness to speak up, and a myriad of alternative resources, many students have gotten through biology without compromising their ethics. This course will arm you with all the tools you need. Join us in a review of the history of animal use in science, learn common teacher views on dissection, see what alternatives exist and their pros and cons, learn related laws and policies, and get inspired by stories of students and medical professionals who have made a difference in this arena.
This is a self-paced course. You log on at your convenience to read the course materials, take quizzes, and submit any other assignments. Most students complete this course within a few weeks.
Humane Academy courses are for students aged 13-22 and may count toward a service requirement. Entire student classes or groups may be enrolled upon request.
